As the world continuously revolves each day, different concerns about the environment are also adding up and becoming visible in the state of natural resources recently.

Looking into these effects that are also visible in the Philippines, the government and even other organizations have pushed various steps in addressing such a matter, such as the implementation of electronic vehicles (EVs) in different regions.

Digging deeper into the push-on additional e-vehicles in the country, here are the foreseen benefits of these technologies not only in the Philippines but also across the world.

1. Motors of electric vehicles are low maintenance

Both internal combustion engine vehicles (ICE) and electric vehicles are known to have almost the same design when it comes to their motors and view on the inside of their machines. Hence, electric motors are still the best choice when it comes to convenience and reliability.

In a closer look, electric vehicles have less maintenance than conventional vehicles because their motors and batteries do not require regular maintenance, and they do not need various liquids, such as engine oils, to function because fewer moving parts will be related to conventional fuel engines.

2. Save expenses from gas

As is already obvious when it comes to electric vehicles, these cars are more convenient for an individual’s wallet as they do not consume a budget for their weekly or monthly fuel supply.

Evaluating the expenses when using electric vehicles, the Energy Utilization and Management Bureau under the Department of Energy disclosed in an interview in 2022 that Filipinos can save up to PHP 1,000 per month compared to using conventional vehicles.

According to the government’s director, EVs have an approximate Php1.67 fuel consumption per kilometer, while ICEs have Php5 per kilometer, which is more convenient in both financial and environmental terms.

3. Does not contribute to pollutants

From the name itself, EVs already have plus points when it comes to reducing pollutants in the environment.

The presence of EVs decreases air pollution because, compared to ICE, they emit less harmful smoke as they do not require plenty of fuel power for them to function. Moreover, EVs are also helping when it comes to reducing noise pollution.

As compared to various studies and tests, e-vehicles have a quieter engine than conventional cars because, as mentioned in the previous bullet, they have a more compact motor engine that produces less sound.

4. Accessibility in infrastructures

As observed, gas stations may take up a lot of space with the important equipment that is needed to fuel vehicles. In terms of electric vehicles, public charging stations are more intact than gas stations because they require less equipment than traditional gas stations, as their charging ports can be available in parking spaces or even in residential areas.

In the Philippines, the presence of electric vehicle charging stations is continuously growing, which has played a pivotal role in encouraging Filipinos to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving their mode of transportation.

5. Safety

According to international studies, EVs are made to have a lower center of gravity than traditional vehicles, making them more stable compared to these cars, which decreases the possibility of them rolling over when involved in an accident.

Moreover, its battery packs were made to be enclosed in sealed shells that protect the engine from sudden battery damage from different outside factors such as extreme temperature, fire, overcharge, or water immersion.

Performance-wise, electric vehicles, and conventional cars can have a distinctive difference, noting that almost all individuals are more used to driving traditional vehicles, which may result in them having to adjust in different aspects.

Hence, there is no doubt that e-vehicles can be a big step for individuals to contribute to addressing environmental issues worldwide. Digging deeper into its benefits, are you willing to venture into the world of e-vehicles?
