When one hears the word “farming,” the image of a rural area automatically comes into mind. But the known urban area, Bonifacio Global City, has given people an opportunity to try farming right in the middle of the city.

In partnership with Urban Farmers of Bel-Air, Bonifacio Global City opened the first ever Community Farm to the public last Sunday, March 27.

The plantitos, plantitas, and city residents can now rejoice and get their hands on farming as they grow their food in their homes. According to the Facebook post of Bonifacio Global City, this is a passion project that provides an edible garden wherein citizens can enjoy a sustainable city lifestyle.

The urban community farm is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is located at The Flats 5th Avenue, corner 34th street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Aside from the BGC residents, everyone interested in urban farming can volunteer by signing up via https://forms.gle/GTnLZV1d3u6jd2mv9. Family and friends can try this activity even during their free time on weekends.

If you only want to adopt a pod, you can also apply by signing up at https://forms.gle/tjvfABuTyApjwK8t6 for their adopt-a-pod project. One can grow food even with a pod since each pod is a 1-meter x 1.2-meter urban farm space that can be purchased for only PHP 999.

There is also a small store within the area wherein one can buy farming essentials in case you might want to try farming on your own. You can also express your support by purchasing freshly-picked vegetables and other local products within the community farm area.
